Hey guys;
I know a lot of you develop graphics, and I'm trying to add a Flash developer to my team. I'm going to probably have a site coming in that requires a small amount of Flash; you would receive a portion of the total cost, as well as a very attractive addition to your portfolio (plus you'd get to work with me!)
The client wants something similar to this site: http://premierespeakers.com/ I'm trying to talk them into a more accessible setup which will require no Flash whatsoever, but I'd still like to have a Flash specialist on my team for when a project comes in, and one on standby if the client does not change their mind.
I already work with a content writer and a developer, and I do all of the other graphics and design work myself (as well as some of the development) as well as work with several other designers/graphics artists, so I would expect you to spend no more than a few hours on this site. A price hasn't been settled, but you can expect to receive at least 10% comission (which, usually is quite a lot (upon average you would receive $150-$500 for one job - just for doing a few hours of Flash!), but I offered this particular client a 50% discount).

I'd also like to see samples of your work so that I can gauge your level of skill and expertise. I don't care if you're home taught or formally taught, all I care to see is a level of skill that I can work with, someone I can give pointers to, and someone who can take criticism from me. I do know some Flash, but admittedly my knowlede of it is currently limited - I like to focus more on the implementation, the PHP, and the Photoshop/Illustrator (as well as being the customer relations person haha).
You can view my freelance portfolio at http://belinkddesign.com . In addition, some other sites I've worked on in the past include http://confava.com as well as a few templates that can be found at http://projects.belinkddesign.com/templ ates/practicedesign.pdf and http://projects.belinkddesign.com/templ ates/layout.png
Hope to hear from some of you! :)

Do you set up all your pages in Dreamweaver? If so, have you moved on from the use of tables to straight CSS for your layouts? I am trying to teach myself CSS to set up my layouts now. They didn't teach us how to design the layout with DIV tags in college...unfortunately, so now I'm stumbling my way through it on my own.
I wish you luck! Seems we are both on the path of doing freelance work right now. I just completed a printed piece and have two websites to develop. But I hope to sell some T-shirt designs to bring in some cash. Meh.

I can help you out of you want; I've been scripting HTML/CSS (or at least hacking it) for roughly five years now. Yes, I do use Dreamweaver to write the markup, but for the most part I just write it by hand, since it is easier for me to understand what I am coding that way - plus I just don't trust code generators. They are machines, after all, and don't necessarily have the problem solving skills of a human brain, especially when it comes to optimizing for other browsers and making the code standards compliant. I'd suggest you also learned to code it by hand if you wish to do freelance work other than graphics; as I've told Ione, it's a very good skill to have.
Just contact me on YIM if you want some pointers; I'm starting another site right now, and can show you the bare bones of what I'm using, or even suggest feeds for you to read that'll help you with your own graphics/illustration and design.
As for drop-downs, I'd strongly suggest *against* utilizing Flash for them. My issue with Flash (and why I never learned Flash that well) is that most effects done in Flash can be completed utilizing either HTML and CSS, or through the use of jQuery at the very least. This is probably the best way I've found to do them: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/hori
Did find a book that teaches me CSS/ HTML, and I think I have sort of refreshed my memory somewhat in HTML.
Thanks for the references Kim! I am sure they'll help out a lot... *hugs*
Good luck in your own work, dear.
